Are you (Garry M. Graves), a published author?

Yes, but mostly magazines articles and corporate newsletters.

How did you come up with the title; Character Happens!

I was wanting a title that would be descriptive with broad appeal (and memorable). Also, I thought it would look great on a bumper sticker.

Why did you use golf stories so much to describe character and virtue?

Golf epitomizes character like no other game. Playing golf mirrors life experiences. When the two constructs are juxtaposition it makes for a memorable storyline.

Are you working on any other books?

Yes, as a biographer for a World War II veteran who "crashed the beaches" of Omaha, on June 6, 1944. The book should be out around the middle of the 2010.

What makes you an expert on character and virtue?

I'm not. But I am an expert on operations management and that means 'business.' Businesses need workers who are not always thinking of themselves but make decisions that benefit others. This mind-set will markedly improve any business. This book will help achieve that state of mind.

You have an angel throughout your site, are you a religious person?

I'm not sure what constitutes being a "religious" person. Do I believe in God? Yes. Do I pray? Yes. Do I attend church or synagogue or mosque? Not so much. I like the angel logo...it's comforting and helps me reflect.

I always question people who proclaim they have the "answer" relative to appropriate character and virtue.

Me too. Believe me no-one has all the answers. However, I do have some suggestions, maybe prescriptions that will 'aid decision-making.' My book has five short stories describing good character. Buy it—you'll see a big difference in your life.

Does the book have a "blog" too?

Of course. I use it keep potential readers and buyers informed on what the book contains. There are snippets of chapters here and on the blog. Here's the link (you may have to cut and paste). http://characterhappens.blogspot.com/

Aren't you too old to be writing a book?

How old is too old? I may be too old for some things but writing a book is not one of them.

Don't you have a better picture to put on your site? You look so stiff!

Madam...I am not stiff as you say...aside from you no one has criticized this picture. The picture is indeed professional-looking because the person to whom the photo was taken is professional...period. And I am not stiff!
